In a recently-filed lawsuit, captioned Jung v. Soho House, NY Sup Ct. NY Cty. Index No. 155882/2018 (filed June 22, 2018), plaintiff Hyun Jae Jung (known on Instagram as Miju Bijou) alleges, inter alia, that defendant Soho House’s “employees denied access of the Club to Plaintiff and her emotional support animal” – a French bulldog named “Pizza Giovannino” – and thus that defendant “excluded Plaintiff from fully and equally accessing a place of public accommodation.”
Plaintiff seeks relief under New York Civil Rights Law § 40, as well as the public accommodation discrimination provisions of the New York State Human Rights Law (N.Y. Exec. Law § 296(2)) and the New York City Human Rights Law (N.Y.C. Admin. Code 8-107(4)(a)).
