Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

What Are Your Fees?

We offer different types of fee arrangements, including:

  • Hourly: The fee is charged based on the time spent on the matter.
  • Contingency: This is a fee defined as a percentage (typically ranging from one-third to 40%) of the recovered sum. If there is no recovery, there is no fee. We offer contingency representation in many employment discrimination matters, and in all personal injury matters.
  • Flat: This is a one-time fee charged for discrete/defined legal service(s).
  • Hybrid: A combination of a flat/hourly and contingency fee, usually requiring an advance payment retainer (an up-front payment drawn down at an hourly rate).

The specific fee will vary depending on the nature of the case. Sexual harassment and personal injury cases are handled on a pure contingency basis.

Do You Offer Free Consultations?

I offer an initial, brief (typically 5-10 minute) phone call at no charge. The purpose of this initial communication is for me to determine whether I can ethically represent you, whether the case falls within our areas of practice, and whether the case is a “good fit” for the firm.

If so, the next step is an office consultation, which is longer and a more detailed meeting. I determine whether to charge for an office consultation on a case-by-case basis.
