In a lawsuit captioned Misas v. North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System and Julio Cardoza, SDNY 14-cv-8787 (filed Nov. 4, 2014), plaintiffs allege that defendants North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System and Julio Cardoza subjected them to harassment, discrimination, a hostile work environment and retaliation.
They assert, for example, that
- a supervisor told one plaintiff that her “breasts are beautiful”,
- Cardoza showed plaintiffs pornographic photographs on his computer,
- after one plaintiff told Cardoza that she was sick, Cardoza responded that she “need[s] a Spanish/Italian sausage all the way”, which the complaint explains “impl[ied] that [plaintiff] needed his penis inside of her to feel better”,
- Cardoza told one plaintiff that he wanted to “spank” her, and
- Cardoza told other employees that one plaintiff practices witchcraft.
Plaintiffs also allege that Lenox Hill retaliated against them for opposing discriminatory practices by, for example, denying one plaintiff to overtime and falsifying performance evaluations.
