Here is the federal court complaint, captioned Cargian v. Breitling USA, Inc., 15-cv-01084 (SDNY, filed 2/17/15), in which plaintiff alleges age, gender, and sexual orientation discrimination against watch manufacturer Breitling. He asserts claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the New York State and City Human Rights Laws.
Plaintiff, who is gay, alleges (among other things) that Breitling’s President, Thierry Prissert, “made it clear that he expected stereotypical male behavior” and “gave preference to stereotypical straight men with sports backgrounds”, and that “[b]ecause plaintiff is gay, he was treated with the same disdain as were the female staff members.”
He also claims that, prior to his termination, Prissert promoted and gave part of plaintiff’s territory to a younger, less-experienced man who “fulfilled the ideal man’s man that Mr. Prissert prized”.
